BOOKPLATES
The old-fashioned bookplate is making a comeback.
I used Marcella Jones's book cover to create this bookplate by first isolating the illustration layer in Photoshop. I then...
...created the swag in Illustrator,
...took it into Photoshop and gave it a 90% transparency,
...marked off a "white space" at the bottom of the image,
...feathered the selection 50 px,
...deleted,
...added a white foundation layer, and
...added a stroke to the image layer.
The final touch was to erase the stroke running through the transparent swag,
...and give it a drop shadow to make it appear on top.
Think about what kind of bookplate your book could use!
