 Macedonian Call - writing desk
In 1833, three Nez Perce and one Flathead Indian went east to see General Clark of Lewis and Clark fame. These two men, in 1803, had spent two months with the Nez Perce in what is now the State of Idaho and apprently picked up enough of the language for Mr. Clark, thirty years later, to get the gist of what his visitors wanted: The white man's Book of Heaven and teachers.

The story broke and Narcissa Prentiss just had to answer this modern-day Macedonian Call. She'd stop at nothing, even if it meant she had to marry a stranger.

We're fortunate that her little sister Harriet gave her a portable writing desk to record her "unheard of journey for a woman."
